India-based motorbike powerhouse, Bajaj Auto Ltd, has partnered Somoco Ghana, a subsidiary of Mohinani Group to launch boxer motorbikes in Ghana.
Ghana‘s motorbike market is estimated to be about 100,000 units per annum. The motorbike demand has grown rapidly in the last few years due to a growing middle class.
Deputy Min for Transport, Hon Joyce Mogtari, who was the guest of honor at the launch praised the Mohinani Group for introducing an environmentally friendly product to the Ghanaian market.
She also urged the Group to provide customers with road safety tips and also promote the use of helmets.
Mr K S Grihapathy, Senior Vice President of Bajaj Auto, said the bikes have low fuel consumption and are robust.
Director of Mohinani Group, Sunil Mohinani, noted that the Group is committed to introducing world class and efficient products unto the Ghanaian market.
He said that commitment is the reason they have partnered Bajaj Auto to introduce the boxer motorbikes.
With the introduction of the boxer motorbikes, Ghana becomes the 51st global market of Bajaj Auto, which aims to be the market leader by 2015.
