Airtel Ghana has signed up to the global campaign against breast and cervical cancer. The recently adjudged CIMG Telecoms Company of the year has for the last two years, pledged and demonstrated its commitment to support Breast and Cervical cancer awareness across all sectors of its business. In this regard, staff of the company have designed innovative, insightful and fun ways to drum up public awareness about the menace throughout the month October; breast cancer awareness month globally.
A pink ribbon is often worn to depict cancerawareness. Amongothers, the ribbon stands for hope for the future and the charitable goodness of people and businesses that publicly support the breast cancer movement. It is intended to evoke solidarity in women and men who currently have breast cancer.
Speaking to Tina Muparadzi, Airtel’s HR Director on the first Friday of the month, she reiterated Airtel’s resolve to help cut back the prevalence of breast related ailments explaining “Airtel takes the well-being of its employees seriously so we are delighted to be a part of the campaign which aims to inspire and support employees contributing to making our communities healthier”.
This year, all funds raised internally from the campaign will be donated to an establishment to support the course. “We wish to include all our subscribers, engage and interact with them in order to make our goal achievable through social media”, she said. Management and staff will regularly update Airtel customers of its activities in this month of pink on the company’s Facebook and twitter page. Subscribers will also be afforded the rare chance to determine the institution proceeds of the fundraising should be donated to and why their choices should be the ultimate.
Tina Muparazi concluded that “this month of October, we at Airtel are making a difference in the lives of many, by fighting breast cancer. We are thinking pink, buying pink, donating pink and wearing pink every Friday this October and together we will win this fight”. The public have been encouraged to be part of the campaign by following Airtel on Facebook (Airtel Ghana) and twitter via the handle, @airtelghana.
