Players of Ghana Premier League giants Kotoko have not been paid their wages for the past three months leading to a growing disquiet among the players.

The Porcupine Warriors were in blistering form since the start of the season but recent events over the salaries of the players seems to have a toll on the team.

Kotoko were beaten by Heart of Lions on Sunday, just seven days after suffering the shock defeat to newly-promoted Bechem United.

It has now been revealed that the morale of the players is at its lowest ebb as the players have not been paid their salaries for three months.

“Yes. It is true that the players have not been paid for three months. But we are in the process of sorting out the salaries of the players,” Kotoko acting CEO Opoku Nti told Asempa FM.

“Their salaries comes from the payments we receive as part of our sponsorship deal with MTN and we have had some challenges about processing documents for the payments to be made.

“I am sure by the end of this month everything will be sorted and they will be paid.”

The players are said to be gravely unhappy over the developments which has led to the low morale in the Porcupine Warriors camp.

The revelation is an indictment on the new board members of Kotoko who were appointed by the Otumfuo to source for funds to run the affairs of the club.

The previous administration under Dr. KK Sarpong did not face financial difficulties as players were well looked after.

Kotoko are still top of the league but their position has been threatened by the non-payment of the wages of the players which could lead to their eventually relinquishing of the title.
