Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited, has introduced the ultra-modern portable production and packaging line to its drinks business.
The ‘CUBE’, as it is called, is the first of its kind in Diageo Africa and will serve to produce and bottle mainstream spirits. It is currently producing Gilbey’s Gin - a brand with great heritage, high quality liquid and distinctive packaging which was launched in Accra.
Speaking about the plant to the 32 GGBL Key Distributors who were taken on a tour of the facility, Michael Akman, Cube Production Manager of GGBL said, “It is our tradition to innovate at scale to meet consumer demands and to do so we consistently seek to offer our consumers of our unique quality products. To further entrench our leadership in the Ghanaian market we are proud to be the first business to introduce this production line. It provides us with the opportunity to expand our operations and provide a variety of premium brands to the Ghanaian market.”
Preba Greenstreet, Corporate Relations Director, reiterated the opportunities available with this innovation. She added,“Such innovation offers us the opportunity to employ more hands while providing state of the art production systems for our premium brands. As an example, during installation alone, 70 percent of labour for the mechanical and electrical installation was sourced locally.”
Theblending process involved in the production of Gilbey’s was demonstrated to the Key distributors.
Kwaku Addo, Managing Director of Fanteakwa Commercials Limited said “the plant is well organised to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality are adhered to. This guarantees the premium products that will be produced.”
Samuel K. B. Omare of Power Packed Limited also shared his opinion on the plant adding, “This is seriously state of the art. I have come across one or two but this is modern and a testament to the quality of Gilbey’s Gin”.
The GHC9.36 million plant is also the first spirit packaging line by GGBL.The name ‘CUBE’ is coined from the 5 containers that are connected together to provide a stand-alone blending, moulding and bottling operation.
