Organisers of the Volta Heroes Foundation awards have primed the event to also drive business investments to the Volta Region, as one of its key objectives for putting the awards together.
The awards' main objective is to reward people who have contributed towards the development of the Volta Region, regardless of where they hail from. It is slated for the 14 December this year in the Regional capital Ho.
However, beyond the recognition that will be given to people who have sacrificed for the region, the organisers, Volta Heroes Foundation also intend to use the awards to create a big platform for investment.
Speaking in an interview a key founding member of the awards, Rockson Dogbegah explained that the expectations of the organisers is that the awards scheme will engender hard work and attract more people to work in the region. He said it was therefore crucial that more business and job opportunities are also created to absolve the people that will be encouraged to work in the region.
Mr. Dogbegah explained that the maiden edition of the Volta Heroes Foundation will have a business and investment discussion session which in subsequent years will be developed into a full blown Investment Expo that will open up the business and investment opportunities in the region to willing investors.
Mr. Dogbegah said the development of the region is the underlying factor for the Heroes Award Scheme, explaining the strategy was two pronged. “We want to recognize those who have sacrificed for the region in order to encourage those in active service to work hard for its development because there is a reward awaiting them, and secondly we need to create businesses to employ people and develop the region to make it attractive to all, that is the thinking”, Mr. Dogbegah affirmed.
“This award is not only for people from the Volta Region but people who have contributed to the growth and development of the region, so people from other parts of the country and the world will qualify”, he stressed.
He said though the award scheme is private sector led, the regional coordinating council, the traditional and religious authorities are involved. A Board of Trustee of the Volta Heroes Foundation, made up of stakeholders of varied background and expertise will meet on the 19th of this month in preparation towards the awards. Organisers hope the award scheme will snow ball to affect the entire country, so that ‘heroes’ can be recognized.
