Ghana's John Paintsil was in action for the first time for South African side Santos FC as they pipped Roses United 1-0 away in Johannesburg on Friday eveining.

The ex-Fulham right-back had to wait for over a month to make his debut after he obtained his long-awaited work permit.

The 32-year-old last played for the Ghana Black Stars during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Paintsil joins National First Division side Santos in October this year. 

After a spell in Israel, Painstil spent six years in England where he played for West Ham, Fullham and Leicester City.
