Argentina skipper, Lionel Messi will reportedly ask for another pay rise at Barcelona, according to reports in the Spanish Press.

Spanish sports paper, AS, believe that the Argentine record-breaker will ask the Bluagrana for more than the current €11m he earns per year after tax.

Advisers

The 26-year-old and his advisers are fully aware that Manchester City, Chelsea and Monaco are all interested in his services, and will use that position to ask for more money from the Catalan club.

The Barcelona forward's deal was first extended in June 2005 after his successful Under-20 World Cup campaign. Three months later, he was handed another improved contract.

Release clause

In January 2007 he put pen to paper until 2014 [with a release clause of 150 million euros] and, in June of the same year, Barça followed Ronaldinho’s departure with a further pay increase.

In 2009, Messi then extended until 2016, before his last renewal [until 2018] was signed this February.
