The Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) last Saturday honoured retired banker Kwame Oppong-Nkrumah with a fellowship of the institute after some 36 years of service.
Mr. Oppong-Nkrumah was until his retirement Head of Treasury Operations at the National Investment bank (NIB).
In a citation read ahead of his investiture, Mr. Oppong-Nkrumah was acknowledged for his years of meritorious service to the banking fraternity and the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Ghana. The citation also acknowledged his many years of service and teaching during which he trained scores of bankers and executive management teams of financial institutions in Ghana.
Mr. Oppong-Nkrumah had previously worked as Head of Foreign Exchange Operations at Barclays Bank. He later served as a Treasury Consultant at the Ghana Commercial Bank and several other financial institutions.
He was recently appointed Managing Director of OVAL Microfinance, and has committed his years ahead to supporting the microfinance industry to improve on its Treasury and Risk operations.
Also honoured was Mr. Alhassan Andani (Honorary Fellow). The honours were administered by the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Henry Wampah, with the support of the CIB president and executives.
