The Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana have entreated members of the Technical Universities Teachers Association (TUTAG) and Technical Universities Administrators Association of Ghana (TUAAG) to call off their strike.
The lecturers declared a sit-down strike on Tuesday, October 7, 2019, over poor conditions of service following the conversion of Polytechnics to Technical Universities.
They want the government to include them in ongoing negotiations to improve working conditions for teachers in tertiary institutions.
In a statement, the Vice-Chancellors expressed worry about the “effect the strike action on students and the academic calendar of Technical Universities.”
It, therefore, appealed to the staff associations to resume work as negotiations continue with government to address their concerns.”
