Minister of Information and Media Relations Mahama Ayariga says the editor of the Crusading Guide Newspaper deserves an honorary doctorate conferred on him for his mastery on issues and has charged the country's tertiary institutions to lead the way.
According to him, Malik Kweku Baako's contribution to public discourse over the years has been invaluable and needs to be commended.
He made the call on Joy FM's news analysis programme, Saturday, during a discussion on Ghana's plummeting economy.
The New Crusading Guide newspaper editor had been very critical of government and the managers of the country's economy and sought to sympathize with the citizenry who are choking under the harsh economic conditions.
Even though he disagreed in part with the analysis of Kweku Baako Jnr, the Information Minister is convinced Malik Baako's knowledge of issues, and contribution to the country's public debates need to be acknowledged and crowned with an honorary Doctorate awarded him.
The panel on Newsfile which included Dr Nii Moi Thompson, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei and host Samson Lardy Ayenini agreed with the sentiments shared by Ayariga.
Kweku Baako Jnr, humbled by the proposition said he was "embarrassed" adding, not everybody would agree to it.
