The failure of organisers to include producers of programmes in the Radio and Television Award schemes has become a source of worry to producers in some media houses in the country.
One of such concerned personalities is Philip Nai, a popular producer at the Multimedia Group.
According to him, producers played a vital role in their day to day activities leading to successful programmes.
Speaking to The Spectator, Philip Nai, who produces Cosmopolitan Mix, DriveTime, and Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM said it was unfortunate that in the various categories of award schemes aimed at celebrating broadcasters, there was no provision to acknowledge the role of producers.
He said that, even though some presenters were talented, “producers make things happen and shape their delivery on air to make their shows successful for these organisers to notice them and nominate their works”.
Philip Nai noted that it was time organisers celebrated those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring joy to listeners and viewers.
“How many award schemes even celebrate movie producers? it is about time they (organisers of award schemes) looked at those behind the show, the thinkers of the shows because our roles are crucial.”
He stressed and said that he was focused on solidifying his position as a top producer in the country.
