Anlo chiefs want Commission of Enquiry over chieftaincy crisis Some chiefs and people of Anlo have vowed not to cooperate with the police in investigations relating to the mayhem in the Anlo state in November last year, unless the government accedes to their demands to set up an independent commission of enquiry to investigate the murders and the various cases of human rights violations. This was contained in a "Declaration of War of Truth" by a section of the chiefs, clan heads, youth and people of Anlo and read by Togbi Azadagli III, Dufia of Tegbi, spokesman, at a congress in Accra on Sunday. Five people including a police constable lost their lives in the conflict in Anlo in November following clashes between a section of the people and the police over preparations for the installation of Mr. Francis Nyonyo Agboada as Awoamefia (overlord) of the Anlo state. Following the anarchy, an Accra Fast Track High court restrained kingmakers of the area from going ahead with the planned installation because it was creating uneasy tension in the area. As a security measure, the government also imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Anloga and Keta. Earlier, as the declaration was being read, Raymond Okudzeto, a lawyer and a citizen of Anlo, protested by saying that they were treading on a dangerous path and he would not be part of it. He then stormed out of the congress with his wife when the people said he could leave if he did not want to be associated with the declaration. Those present at the congress included: Togbi Dordzeawuudzi Atsrifo III, Dufia of Abor, Togbi Gbordzor III, Dusifia of Anlo and Dr. Togbi Lagbo Kofa III, Dufia of Anloga and Head of Amlada clan of Anlo. When the Times contacted the Ministry for the Interior for their reaction, it became apparent that the ministry had not been served a copy of the declaration. When the Times furnished the ministry with a copy of the declaration, the sector minister, Kwamena Bartels, told the Times that the government would engage with the chiefs and people of Anlo in a bid to resolve the issues, saying, "we are not interested in who should or should not be made king of Anlo, all that we are interested in is that there should be peace."
