Ghana and South Africa have moved to take trade relationship between both countries a notch higher through the introduction of a Bi-National Commission the Deputy South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Thapelo Madumane said.
Thapelo Madumane said this will emphasize cooperation and hard work dedicated to poverty eradication and job creation in both countries.
Speaking to JoyBusiness at the Annual General Meeting of the Ghana-South Africa Business Chamber he said, “It will address a whole spectrum of issues in different spheres at the presidential level; every two years, we should be able to meet in maybe South Africa, here in Ghana or alternative so we will have regular interface or interactions between the two presidents.”
Currently, Ghana’s relation with South Africa is on a Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC) basis.
Mr Madumane also hinted of plans by the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, to pay a working visit to Ghana on the 4th and 5th of December, 2019.
The bi-national commission is a platform for the two countries to forge ahead with cooperation including on political issues that may concern their bilateral relations.
GSABC AGM
The Ghana South Africa Business Chamber AGM saw the election of new executives for the chamber led by Grant Webber as its new President.
Mr Webber says his outfit will position its members to take advantage of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement.
He said, “We certainly look forward next year to the African Free Trade Zone which should be a benefit to all manufacturers in Africa and especially between the countries.”
The New Executive of the Ghana South Africa Business Chamber seeks to champion the course of environmental issues in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
