Chief Policy Analyst at the Ghana Institute for Public Policy Options, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby says President John Mahama is prosecuting “Gold Coast policies” instead of applying contemporary strategies to enhance the economy .
According to him, such “Gold Coast polices” in an internet age will not accelerate the growth of the country.
Wereko-Brobby was commenting on the current state of the economy on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Wednesday.
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has blamed Ghana’s economic woes on the fiscal indiscipline of the Mahama-led administration, an allegation government has vehemently denied.
But Dr. Wereko-Brobby believes President Mahama has failed to abreast himself with modern and pragmatic ways of achieving economic success.
The Policy Analyst indicated that since the president is very active on social media like facebook and twitter, he [Mahama] should “use the modern technology to assess Ghana’s development”.
“Let’s not roll the years back with all those useless policies that don’t belong to the internet age”, he fumed.
He expressed worry about the presence of countless economic think-tanks in the country with none of them able to proffer solution to Ghana’s ailing economy.
Dr. Wereko-Brobby therefore charged President Mahama to walk the talk and hit the ground running.
