The country managing director for CFAO Automobile Company, Paulo Fernandes has bemoaned the slow patronage of brand new cars in the country.
He said Ghana’s market is too small hence the need to partner with car dealers CAR45 to launch a car trading platform in Ghana.
The platform affords car owners of all brands to tender in their cars at CAR45 and CFAO to sell and swap cars for new models.
Paulo Fernandes told JoyBusiness, “The main benefit is to bring back customers of other car brands to buy showroom cars. The brand new car business is not booming in Ghana because the market is very small.”
He was very optimistic government’s automobile policy will help the industry to grow.
“Thanks to the new auto policy government is implementing for next year, we hope the market will grow because thanks to the ban of used cars import it will, first of all, grow the local market and this is why we launch this activity with CAR45” he added.
The Country Manager for CARS45, George Festus Mensah said, “The second-hand or used cars market must be structured in the country where every car must have a history in a database to make it easy for selling, buying and swapping cars in the country”.
According to him, CARS45 subjects every car to a 200 point assessment to ensure customers know the true value for their cars before they proceed to CFAO company showroom to make a choice of a new car and pay the difference to own a brand new car.
