Deputy Communications Minister, George Andah, is in full support of a new JoyNews campaign dubbed #ArriveAlive, aimed at tackling road accidents in the country.
Mr Andah who has been forced to use crutches after his near-death encounter in a road accident in 2018 in an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday, endorsed the campaign which he is convinced will save lives.
“I am fully on board this campaign, any role that you want me to play, I will play,” the Minister said.
Since the road accident, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West constituency in the Central Region has had life-altering surgeries to help him adapt to a new way of life, one with accessibility issues.
“Since I’ve had this challenge, travelling is a bit of a problem; walking upstairs in places that don’t have lifts and for parking,” he lamented.
He encouraged stakeholders to take seriously survivors of road accidents who have been physically affected and the issues they face such as accessibility.
JoyNews’ #ArriveAlive campaign is a road safety campaign which aims to find solutions on how to make roads in Ghana safe for all users with a continued discourse on why there are frequent road accidents occurring across the country.
The campaign comes as conversations on road safety have been reignited since a major carnage that occurred on January 14, 2020, claimed the lives of 34 people, shocking the nation.
