Two Ugandan MPs fought on parliament premises after one accused the other of telling his constituents to vote him out, according to a local news site.
Anthony Akol, who represents Kilak North county, was quoted by the Daily Monitor as saying he slapped Odonga Otto who represents Aruu county in self-defence.
Mr Akol reportedly accosted Mr Otto within the parliamentary compound and asked him why he was telling his constituents to vote him out.
Mr Otto then admitted that he was campaigning for Mr Akol's removal and accused him of selling public land, the Daily Monitor reports.
Mr Akol is said at that point to have slapped Mr Otto then a scuffle ensued, forcing another MP to break them apart.
He told the Daily Monitor that he was acting in self-defence:
