Some loyalists of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region are disgusted at the current brouhaha and media war among leading members and the rank and file of the party, ahead of the National Executive election.
According to the grassroots members of the party, the utterances and comments of some of the leading members in recent times have hurt the party at the grassroots and have caused disaffection among members.
They claim their efforts in re-mobilizing the grassroots members and intensifying their membership base have hit a snag due to the divisive comments and media war by leading members.
They have therefore declared their intension to stage a massive demonstration against leading members and other groupings in the party whom they claim are trading insults and tearing the party apart.
The loyalists laid bare their concern when a section of the regional executives went round some of the constituencies to interact with party faithfuls in the region.
"We are the organizers of the party, we go to the grounds to work, I am telling you that our people are disturbed, they are worried and seem to be losing hope in 2016. Most of them want to go to the streets and demonstrate," Regional Organiser, Kwame Appiah Kodu, told Adom News.
He added that, even founding fathers and patrons of the party are worried about the situation.
Kwame Appiah Kodua however advised leading members and all interest groups in the party to desist from the media war and concentrate on how to wrest power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and solve the economic hardships in the country.
