Father of late dancehall musician, Ebony, has given details of investigations carried out into his daughter’s death by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).Starboy Kwarteng, as he is called, disclosed in an interview with Adom News’ Sister Sandy, that the reports of the investigations – as were made available to him – indicated that there was no foul play in the accident which claimed his daughter’s life. The outcome of the investigations, according to him, also meant no one could be held accountable for the accident.Starboy Kwarteng said his request for further investigations into the driver, who was the only survivor of the crash, was turned down.He explained that the former CIB boss, Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah, told him that the driver also risked his life so “they have nothing against him (so) I should let go.”Ebony died in a car crash on the Sunyani-Kumasi road after visiting her mother on February 8, 2018, together with her friend, Franky Kuri and a bodyguard, Francis Vondee. The sensational singer, born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, was travelling back to Accra after visiting her mother in Sunyani, in the Bono Region.A Jeep with the registration number AS 497-16 she was travelling in had a head-on collision with a VIP bus heading towards Sunyani from Kumasi.
Ebony’s vehicleThe singer’s father said that he was hoping for a more clearer account of the incidents leading to and after the crash from the driver when he made a request for reinvestigations.Starboy Kwarteng disclosed that he was shocked to hear the reason his request was being denied: “The head of the team told me the boy should be let go because he is a young guy of 27 years and when detained will die in cells. That’s the country we live in; Ebony was just 21 but the guy in question is 27; who is younger?”He noted that the driver failed to fulfil the social contract between him and Ebony when he failed to take her safely to her destination.Mr Kwarteng added that he is perplexed the police was restraining the driver from giving a full account of what transpired on the night of her death.
