Beverage Investments Ghana Limited, producers of Pepsi Cola products, is seeking a perpetual injunction from the Commercial Division of the High Court to restrain the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the ongoing MTN Africa Nations Cup (Ghana 2008) from further permitting Coca Cola Company Limited to be sponsors of the live telecast of the tournament.
The company is also seeking general damages for breach of contract between it and the LOC.
In a writ filed on behalf of the company by its solicitors, Awoonor Law Consultancy, a copy of which was made available to the Daily Graphic, the company is also demanding the full cost of the suit against the plaintiff.
Beverage Investments has been recognised as the official non-alcoholic beverage sponsors of the Ghana 2008 and has mounted several stands and flags in and around the tournament centres.
The company is said to have paid several thousands of dollars to secure the right as the non-alcoholic beverage sponsor of the tournament.
