A member of a National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth group based in Lamsheigu in the Tamale Metropolis, has accused the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Abdul Hanna Gundadoo of assaulting him.
The alleged victim, Baba Yelimala claims he confronted the MCE after he lost a gutter desilting contract promised him by the Chief Executive.
Narrating the incident to Joy News' Martina Bugri, the victim said the MCE, having initially reneged on the promise to give them a contract, later promised to award them another contract on another road.
They however, found another group of young men working on the new road that the MCE promised them.
Baba Yelimala said they then decided to go to the MCE's office to find out why he had continuously deceived them.
The group claimed Abdul Gundadoo would not give them audience and asked them to leave his premises.
One of the members of the group was reported to have made a remark, which angered the MCE. In his anger, Abdul Gundadoo allegedly slapped Baba Yelimala, who was then standing close to him.
The MCE in an interview with Joy News' Martina Bugri would not confirm or deny the slap allegation made against him, except to say the people, who came to his office were thugs and must be arrested.
Gundadoo is reported to have said that Tamale is not for violent people and such people will not be entertained.
