An Italian company is to start the cultivation and processing of jetropha plant into bio-diesel in the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area.
Mr Antonio Crisci, Project Co-ordinator, who announced this at a meeting of the Traditional Council at Gomoa Oguaa on Friday, said 700 workers would be employed initially on the project.
The signing of the necessary documents is almost completed and commended Obrifo Ahunaku Ahor Ankobea II, Omanhene, the Ghana Investment Promotion Council and persons who contributed in the acquisition of the land, assuring the people that the project would enhance their living conditions.
Addressing the meeting, Obrifo Ahor Ankobea commended Ghanaians for exhibiting a high sense of togetherness and comportment during the Africa Cup of Nations soccer tournament and urged them to sustain the unity to enhance the country’s accelerated development.
"We should not allow partisan politics to disintegrate us", the paramount chief stated and cautioned politicians to be mindful of their utterances and the media to be circumspect about what they published or broadcast.
Obrifo Ahor Ankobea urged chiefs to adopt pragmatic measures to ensure law and order and peace in their communities and ensure that some unscrupulous politicians did not create confusion among their people.
"The traditional area needs peace, Ghana needs peace; therefore, I will hold any chief who allows people to disturb the peace in the name of political campaigning personally responsible and sanction him accordingly" the paramount chief cautioned.
He reminded the electorate that their votes were weapons, which if not well utilized could undermine the nation's progress.
Obrifo Ahor Ankobea appealed to the youth to channel their energies into the execution of development projects.
