The 2012 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has arrived in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi to a rousing welcome, Tuesday.
Hundreds of party supporters clad in party colours and paraphernalia, thronged the Kumasi Airport to welcome Akufo-Addo, who just returned to Ghana from a vacation in London.
Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor reported that some supporters on motorbikes led the party flagbearer from the Airport to his hotel and are hoping he would address them.
Nana Akufo-Addo has been silent on his political future after taking a break from active politics, following months of legal tussle over the 2012 elections.
Supporters are hoping he will break his silence and announce a return to mainline politics.
Akufo-Addo, however, maintains that he has to consult the elders of the party before making any public announcement.
It is not clear yet if he has concluded his consultation and will make a formal announcement in Kumasi.
He will be the guest of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, tomorrow, March 12, 2014, Erastus Donkor reported.
He is expected to go through the principal streets of Kumasi before meeting the Otumfuo.
