The Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2012 elections, Nana Akufo-Addo says he will announce a decision on his political future on March 20, 2014.
Since his return from a six month break from politics in the UK, the twice defeated presidential hopeful has been under intense pressure from party faithful to contest the flagbearership race of the party for a third consecutive time.
The supporters believe Nana Akufo-Addo represents the NPP's best chance of wresting power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 elections.
But Nana Akufo-Addo told hundreds of supporters in the Kumasi Wednesday, as part of his tour of the Ashanti Region that, he was still consulting elders of the party as well as some prominent statesmen including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
When he is through with the consultations, he will then hold a news conference in Accra on the said date, to announce whether or not he will be interested in contesting the 2016 presidential elections.
Hundreds of residents of Kumasi especially market women earlier today, temporarily abandoned their shops and joined the 2012 NPP presidential candidate's convoy to the Manhyia Palace.
Before addressing them, Nana Akufo-Addo toured some major streets of Kumasi exchanging pleasantries and announcing his return from the United Kingdom.
He called on the rank and file of the party to remain united in their quest to wrest power from the NDC.
