A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Kwame Amoako-Tuffour is confident the 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, will lead the party in the 2016 general election.
According to him, as an accomplished lawyer and renowned human rights advocate, his [Nana’s] dream to serve Ghana cannot be underestimated.
Dr. Amoako-Tuffour was speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Thursday, on the chances of Nana Akufo-Addo, should he decide to lead the NPP for the third time.
Hundreds of supporters, who thronged the Kotoka International Airport, when Akufo-Addo arrived in Ghana after a six month vacation in the United Kingdom chanted, “No Nana No Vote”.
But Akufo-Addo after consultation with some party executives, has set March 20 to announce his political future.
This, notwithstanding, Dr. Amoako-Tuffour said Nana Akufo-Addo is the automatic leader of NPP in 2016.
He noted that as an astute politician, Nana Addo also has the wellbeing of Ghanaians at heart and therefore will not sit idle and watch them suffer.
“Akufo-Addo is a symbol of hope to redeem Ghanaians from the hardships and take us to the promise land”, he stated.
Dr. Amoako-Tuffour said Nana Akufo-Addo’s decision will be a positive one because “I know he will not let Ghanaians and the entire NPP fraternity down”.
