An activist of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Kumasi, Mr Kwame Asante Barnie, has advised party faithful and supporters to unite for victory in 2016.
He said party members must find lasting solutions to and address any rancour and bitterness within the party to ensure total electoral victory.
Mr Barnie referred to assertions by Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku and stressed that they should not be dismissed; rather they should be taken very seriously and addressed.
Dr Apraku is reported to have said in an interview in Ho in the Volta Region that the division that existed in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would not enhance their chances of winning power and therefore called for a united front.
He stated that "in 2000, when we were in opposition, the effectiveness of our parliamentarians, polling station agents, selfless devotion, high motivation and the collective desire of the party to win power made us win the election".
Dr Apraku said the NPP could not rely on the fact that the economy was not doing well to automatically win the election as the situation now was not different from that of 2012.
According to Mr Bamie, what Dr Apraku said was the true version of the current political situation within the NPP and therefore called for a united action to deal with the canker.
He said unity within the party was dwindling, adding, “It is time the party hierarchy adopted more pragmatic approach to resolve all inherent differences.
In this regard, he stressed the need for commitment and dedication among members to work hard to wrest political power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016.
In his view, the NDC knew what was needed to win an election and therefore called on NPP members not to underrate the NDC.
