Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Asokwa constituency, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has endorsed the candidature of 1st Vice Chairman, Fred Oware for the National Chairmanship position of the party.
According to him, the NPP needs a calm and purposeful leader like Mr. Oware to foster unity and also make the party attractive to floating voters ahead of the 2016 general elections.
Kofi Jumah in a facebook book post Friday noted that, having served as the 1st Vice National Chairman of the NPP for four years, Fred Owari has gained enormous experience to steer the affairs of the party.
The National Chairmanship position is being keenly contested by leading members of the party including incumbent, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey. The others are twice defeated contender, Stephen Ntim and business mogul Paul Afoko and Fred Oware.
As the party prepares for its National Delegates Conference in Tamale, these four party stalwarts are all confident of becoming National Chairman.
But Kofi Jumah said after a thoughtful analysis of all the candidates vying for the position, “Fred Oware has superior qualities”.
He said Mr. Oware is a “team player and a humble man whom many people are attracted to becuase they see him as the unifier”.
“He [Oware] commands so much respect that all the hot heads within the party would respect as National Chairman” he stated.
The former Asokwa MP indicated that, the aspiring National Chairman is not part of the people he described as “tapioca” in the party who only seek their interest to the detriment of those at the grassroots.
Kofi Jumah called on party delegates to put NPP’s interest as heart and vote for Fred Oware to ensure landslide victory in the 2016 elections.
