Aspiring General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Captain Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey (rtd) has predicted a landslide victory ahead of the party’s delegates conference scheduled for April 12 in Tamale.
According to him, the prediction is based on the response of delegates during his nationwide tour to interact with constituency executives of the party.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii sen programme Friday, Effah-Dartey said having toured all 275 constituencies in the country, "I beleive I am the peoples choice".
With barely a week to the party’s delegate conference, all aspirants for various positions are optimistic of winning. Incumbent General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John, Kwabena Agyepong and Yaw Boabeng Asamoah are all confident of being voted the party's General Secretary.
But Captain Effah-Dartey seen as an underdog in the race said his victory in Tamale will shock those he described as 'skeptics' in the party.
“I will be the shocker in Tamale. No matter their degree of preparation or money power, I will beat them and emerge the General Secretary of the party” he added.
Campaigning with the slogan “Alert and win”, he said the NPP cannot afford to lose the 2016 elections.
"As a former soldier and with my experience on elections, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) can no longer intimidate us. I will make sure victory is ours in 2016”.
He said when given the mandate, his priorities would include, resourcing the grassroots and training polling agents for election 2016.
I “believe vigilance and alertness are key to winning the 2016 general elections” he emphasised.
Captain Effah-Dartey was optimistic that the NPP will regain political power under his stewardship as General Secretary.
