The National Elections Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed utmost shock at the ghastly accident involving a General Secretary aspirant, Kwabena Adjei Agyapong, on the Nsawam road on Tuesday.
Mr. Agyepong and his campaign team were on the way to Kumasi for a scheduled press conference ahead of the party’s delegates conference in Tamale. The vehicle in which he and four others were traveling in, is said to have damaged beyond repair.
But the General Secretary aspirant and the cameraman, who sustained injuries are in stable condition at the 37 Military Hospital.
A statement signed by the Chairman of NEC, C.K Tedam wished Mr. Agyapong and his team a speedy recovery and expressed the hope that they will “join the rest of the NPP family in Tamale.”
The statement advised “drivers, who will be plying the road to Tamale to guard against any action that will cause accidents.
“We must all guard against any action that will cause accidents or harm to one another. We need every soul to prepare for victory 2016. We wish all aspirants, supporters and sympathizers of the party, travelling mercies from the good Lord,” the statement noted.
