Three persons believed to be sympathizers of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) were briefly detained, Wednesday, for disrupting a public event in the lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
The three raided the offices of the assembly to forcibly halt the swearing in of some Assembly members in the Eastern regional town.
The people, who were arrested by the police, have now been released.
The three form part of a group of disgruntled residents, who are accusing their Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Isaac Tetteh Agbo, of choosing his cronies as government appointees on the Assembly.
The Akuse District Police Commander, ASP Francis Ackah says the protesters have been cautioned and released.
He said they were advised to desist from riotous behaviour and that calm has been restored in the area.
