Presidential hopeful Alan Kyerematen says the New Patriotic Party needs a new leadership that will bring the party back to power.
He said politics is all about power and the delegates must look out for aspirants who are capable of leading the NPP and bringing it the power it wants.
Over 5000, delegates are making their way to Tamale for the National Delegates Conference that will also elect new national executives.
Alan Kyerematen arrived in Tamale on Friday amidst pomp and excitemant by motoriding supporters of the NPP.
Speaking to journalists in Tamale Alan Kyerematen said the party has "excellent candidates" and believes the delegates are discerning and have the capacity to elect the best candidates.
Asked if he agrees with the assertion that there must be a complete overhaul of the current crop of executives who are seeking re-election, Alan Kyerematen stated: "I cannot decide for the delegates."
He is however convinced the party needs a new leadership to win power in 2016.
He was also confident of a united NPP after the Conference, saying the party believes in democracy and in competition.
Meanwhile the Tamale Sports Stadium is already bubbling in political activity as aspirants make a last gasp attempt at convincing delegates to vote for them.
The sheer numbers and sizes of posters and billboards at the stadium have increased dramatically with every inch of space covered.
