National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Paul Afoko will outline concrete steps to be taken to reorganise and re-energise party structures in readiness for the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.
At his maiden press briefing slated today, he will give assurance to party faithful of his readiness to mobilise the party to wrestle power from the NDC in 2016.
Mr Afoko will also appeal to factions within the party to unite for the task ahead.
Briefing The Finder, a party source said the press conference will kickstart Mr Afoko’s ‘new plan for power’, which got him elected as National Chairman of the NPP.
The source said Mr Afoko would also use the opportunity to address a wide range of important party issues.
According to the source, the press conference will be centred on strategies to build a strong party that can wrestle power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) come 2016.
It will also focus on strengthening and reorganising party structures.
It is anticipated that the newly elected executives of the NPP will be present at the press conference.
In a related development, the newly elected executives of the NPP will hold their first meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, April 23, 2014.
Mr Afoko’s message during the race for chairmanship was ‘new plan for power’ - a desire to rebrand, restructure, and to recapture power.
The plans include one to resource the party with vehicles and uyjt^cy- cles, as well as r£furbish'constituency offices with the-needed communica-' tion gadgets to function effectively.
It will also train polling agents ahead of every election, and has plans for youth development.
Mr Afoko polled 2,034 out of the 5,400 votes cast at the NPP’s 16th Extraordinary Delegates’ Conference, which culminated in the election of new national officers.
His closest rival was Steven Ntim, who polled 1503, followed by former First Vice-Chairman, Fred Oware, who polled 1,135.
Incumbent National Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey polled 66.
