A pressure group within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)in the Eastern Region is calling on a former Communications Director at the presidency, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, to contest the position of Deputy General secretary in the yet-to-be scheduled congress of the party to elect its national officers.
The group, Global Network For Bare Facts, believes Mr.Anyidoho possesses the qualities to succeed in ''Ghana's politics which is gradually becoming a game for the radicals and diplomats alike''.
A statement signed by the group's Communications Director, Mr. Richard Etornam Nyarko, noted that the election of the current crop of national officers of NDC's main rivals, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), clearly sends a message that the NPP is breaking away from the "concentrated bookish politics it's been doing all these years''.
The group believes Mr Anyidoho can match the new NPP national executives.
''There is a need to stock our (NDC) line up with comrades who have such electric range of styles... to inundate our front with people who have the knack...to downgrade the NPP to the depth of confusion...It is in this regard that some of us have [come] together to [stress] the need for the inclusion of comrade Anyidoho as our Deputy General Secretary'', the statement said.
The statement also acknowledged the achievements of Mr Anyidoho in the NDC government during the tenure of late president Atta Mills.
The statement therefore called on all well-meaning party faithfuls to support Mr Anyidoho to become the Deputy General Secretary of NDC.
