A deputy Minister of Interior says the governing National Democratic Congress' commitment to fighting corruption is unprecedented.
James Agalga said unlike the erstwhile New Patriotic Party that never had the courage to investigate any of the damning allegations of corruption against its members, the NDC has investigated all allegations of corruption made against its officers.
He said some of the key party functionaries are currently being prosecuted for acts of corruption under the NDC government, something the NPP never did.
He was responding to the May Day comments by the TUC Secretary General Kofi Asamoah, who among other issues criticised the government for the rising state of corruption in the country.
James Agalga who was a panel member on Joy FM's news analysis programme Newsfile accused the TUC boss of being dishonest.
He said the impression being created that nothing is being done to fight corruption can only be far from the truth.
Agalga also mounted a defence for the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ebo Barton Oduro who was alleged to have supported the Woyome judgement debt saga.
Some critics wondered why Mr Oduro was elevated to the position of Deputy Speaker when he defended and supervised alleged acts of fraud perpetrated on the state by Alfred Agbeshie Woyome.
But James Agalga said Ebo Barton Oduro, as a lawyer, just gave a professional opinion and cannot be held accountable for whatever happened.
He also defended other government officials who critics say colluded with Woyome to defraud the state. He argued the state is prosecuting a case of fraud against Mr Woyome because he allegedly defrauded the state and all the persons involved in the matter.
But Dominic Nitiwul who was also on the show said the Woyome scandal is part of the reason why the country's economy is still strangulated.
He said if Woyome is in court for fraud, all others who transacted the said fraudulent business with him must also be held to account.
