He was speaking at the open day ceremony of the College of Agricultural Education of the University of Education, Winneba, at Asante-Mampong.
Mr Asabere urged government to assist research institutions to enable them to come out with effective farming practices to boost food production, especially in the wake of global food crisis.
He appealed to government to increase support for agriculture colleges to enable them to produce more experts to assist farmers to increase food production.
Mr Asabere noted that the bulk of farmers in the country were ageing and called for efforts to make agriculture attractive to encourage the youth to go into farming.
