UBA Ghana (a subsidiary of United Bank for Africa Plc) has introduced a new payment solution for existing and prospective subscribers of GBS (Gateway Broadcasting Services).This new payment platform now affords existing and potential customers the opportunity to subscribe to GBS and access several TV programmes and pay their subscription bills at any UBA branch location nationwide.The new payment solution by UBA is being rolled out in tune with the bank’s commitment to ensure comfortable and secured banking and payment services, and bank officials say it has been designed with the customer in mind. “Beginning the month of May 2008, the new service brings payment services to the doorstep of the Ghanaian public.”Commenting on the partnership between UBA and GBS, the Chief Operating Officer of UBA Ghana, Mr Sanusi Mudasiru, said the bank’s superior IT infrastructure enables it to offer the most convenient and safest platform for payment of subscription bills. He said the UBA platform is highly automated with efficient transaction solutions.“Our efficient platform is devoid of any manual manipulation and it enables the system to perform all sorts of validations such as ensuring the GBS customer’s account number ID entered is updated same day on real time basis,” he said.In a similar deal which runs out on July 15, UBA has also partnered GBS for a promotion to get potential customers connected to GBS by paying for a special offer price on dish, decoder, smartcard and installation at UBA branches.
UBA is the largest banking group in West Africa with a balance sheet of some US$15bn and over 6 million customers across the sub-region and is currently operating in 12 locations in Ghana including Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Takoradi.
