"We have followed with keen interest and are critically observing activities of this NPP government, and the people are just surprised about the high level of commitment towards addressing the development needs of our people.
You and your government have really shown the way, the NPP promised to help develop our towns and villages and have delivered on its promises, the NPP never failed us. Nana we can see, compare and contrast between the past and the present, it is our conviction that you will win the elections and continue with the good works of your government".
These were the words of the Mankrado of the Mafi traditional area, Togbe Brentua Asafo III, when he welcomed the NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo to Mafi-Kumase, in the North Tongu District of the Volta region last Wednesday.
Togbe Brentua Asafo, who was addressing a large crowd that had gathered, noted that the NPP government responded swiftly to the development needs of the people in the area, which had been denied them over the years. He also described the North Tongu District Assembly as very effective with a dynamic leadership, demonstrated by the DCE, Mr. Moses Asem.
To substantiate his point, he pointed out that the government had performed exceptionally in the areas of education, health, construction of roads, provision of electricity• and potable water to deprived communities, within its two terms in government.
The Mafi Mankrado mentioned the ongoing construction of the Sogakope- Adidome - Ho- Fume road, which he noted was the major road that linked the area to the regional capital, Ho, as well as to Accra.
According to him this was a project that had been neglected over the years to the extent that it affected movement of goods and services, until the NPP started the project by tarring the road.
Togbe Brentua Asafo continued that the government also upgraded the Mafi-Kumase Secondary Technical School and provided it with a bus. He commended the NPP for the execution of development projects by the government, which shows the NPP as a development oriented government.
He said the government's developmental activities was a practical demonstration to the people that the Kufuor led administration did a lot, based on which premise he believed that Nana Akufo-Addo would win the elections.
In response, Nana Akufo Addo noted that it was important for the people to recognize the achievements of the government as well as to support it in its development efforts, saying it was crucial for Ghanaians to elect him to continue with the development plans and policies of the NPP, in order to make the country more comfortable for everyone.
The NPP Presidential Candidate said he was convinced that the NPP would make strides in the Volta region this year, because the people have realized the level of development brought to them by the government and urged them to change their attitude towards the NPP and vote massively for him, to ensure an accelerated development.
He noted that the level of development in the Volta region is unprecedented in the history of the country. He promised that when voted as the next President, all the regional capitals would be provided with a public University, to address the educational needs of the people.
