The series of gory accidents some key actors and actresses in this country have gotten involved in have served as a wake-up call to them to give themselves to the Almighty God for protection.
"One thing I will say is in this world if you don't have time for God, God will also not have time for you", observed the President of the Ghana Actors' Guild, Mr. Odoi Mensah, in an exclusive interview with The Saturday Statesman.
According to him, the Guild had decided that actors, actresses as well as artistes would be encouraged to attend prayer meetings on monthly basis.
"This initiative is to seek the face of God for Him to forgive us whatever sin we might have committed against Him, and ask Him to break every spell that has been cast on us", he intimated.
For the past eight years, Ghana has lost a number of great stars - both in the music and the film industries through fatal accidents.
The young music star, Terry Bonne Chaka, died some few years ago through accident, Suzzy Williams, one of the then hottest movie stars in Ghana, also met her untimely death in the same manner.
The most recent and shocking of all was the sudden death of Kwame Owusu Ansah, a very famous actor, on the Accra- Tema Motorway.
In view of all these, the Ghana Actors' Guild organized a prayer session for its members and artistes at the Arts Centre last week. There was a massive turn-out of actors, particularly, the up-coming ones.
"Unfortunately, majority of the reigning stars couldn't turn up for the prayers", Odoi Mensah disclosed.
Asked why majority of the stars were unable to participate in the prayers, he said, "I did call each and every one of them but you know these actors and actresses, they might be busily doing one thing or another.
“And I know in the beginning of every programme, such turn-out is bound to happen; but all the same will not give up. I hope to see them in the subsequent meetings since it is going to be every month,"
Present at the maiden prayer meeting was Pastor Offie, who organizes service on Radio Gold. He advised those present to invite God to run their affairs always because "a star can never be free of worldly forces and since many are looking at them, some may hate or envy what they are doing whiles others may also like them".
"To be a star is worth working for; you can also be a born again Christian and at the same time a star, so never allow fame or popularity to get into your heads and neglect the Almighty God who created you", he admonished.
