The Embassy of the United States of America in Ghana has donated medical equipment worth $10,000 to the LEKMA Polyclinic in Accra.
The items include delivery beds, trolleys, a sterilizer machine, weighing scales, stethoscopes, fridges for drugs, suturing set, gynae stools, drip stands, delivery aprons, examination couches, large quantities of disposable syringes and needles.
The Acting Medical Superintendent for the LEKMA Polyclinic, Dr William Okyere-Frempong, thanked the US Ambassador for the donation of the much-needed items and equipment to support the facility to provide quality healthcare to the residents of Nungua and its environs.
He hoped that other well-meaning individuals and organizations would follow suit to assist the Polyclinic to undertake other critical projects like sinking of a borehole, construction of an incinerator, acquisition of a solar panel or generator set and extension of clients' waiting area.
The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA), Mr Badu Tawiah, and the Municipal Director of Health Services, Dr Leticia Asomaning-Wiafe, paid tribute to the diligence and industriousness of the management and staff of the Polyclinic. They urged them to take good care of the items received to ensure they last long and thanked the US Ambassador for his partnership.
The LEKMA Polyclinic, located at Nungua Adogonno, which is still under-construction, was built by the municipal assembly and the first phase was commissioned in December 2012.
It is the only government healthcare centre located in Nungua and is equipped to offer OPD services, pharmacy, laboratory, antenatal and delivery services, ultrasound scan services, family planning and child health care services.
