Residents of Kasoa are angry with officials of the National Identification Authority over the slow-paced progress of the exercise in the market town.
They claim that the officials have deliberately slowed down the process of registration to force desperate residents to pay many before registration is done.A man who called Adom News, Mr. Charles Baidoo, said he arrived at one of the registration centres as early as 4:30am with his wife on Wednesday and though he joined the queue, he was delayed up to 10am.“Madam I’m still here, I don’t understand and they will not even explain anything to you. Am still here but if you pay them something they will register you immediately, you come here, there are old women in the queue waiting for their turn but have not been registered,” Mr. Baidoo lamented.“These are the things they do and people will accuse government of corruption but they are doing this on their own. I asked permission from work before coming here but they have wasted the whole day for me.”However the supervisor of the Kasoa N.I.A office, Edward Sackey denied the allegation and attributed the delays to the refusal of residents to join the queue. “Look they are telling lies, don’t listen to them, the process is slow I agree but it is because our people are not many in this Kasoa area but we are doing our best,” said Mr. Sackey. He assured the people that by 3pm he was hopeful the queue would have been served and pleaded with the residents to come to him instead of reporting to the radio stations at the least instance.Credit: Afia Pokuaa (Adom FM)
