In an unprecedented twist on Newsfile news analysis programme on Saturday, vociferous Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper has declined comment on floods that claimed lives and destroyed properties on Thursday.
Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako Jr's reason was, "we are simply tired of that discussion".
Various suburbs in Accra including Kaneshie, Mallam, Ashaley Botwe, Teshie Nungua, were the hardest hit after torrential rains poured in for nearly 24 hours.
Many properties were destroyed and hundrends rendered homeless.
A middle-aged woman believed to have been trapped in a flooded drain was found dead Friday in Dome, Accra.
"I would only express my sympathy with those lost property and express my condolences to the family of those who lost their lives. Full stop. I am sorry to disappoint you", he told host of the programme, Samson Lardy Anyenini.
Baako said whatever solutions he will proffer would have been said variously either on the same platform or on others.
"I am fatigued", he fumed.
"I am sure if you played back [a relevant episode of the programme] whatever I will say today I have said already. And I might have said it over ten, twenty times in the last twenty-five years. And there are people out there with the requisite technical brains who have offered solutions over and over ", he said.
But Nana Ato Dadzie, a former Chief of Staff and spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress legal team during in the Presidential Election Petition, who was also on the programme, had a different view.
"We cannot afford to say we are tired", he chipped in.
According to Nana Ato Dadzie, floods can hit any expanding city, indicating Accra's problem is not peculiar.
