Ghanaian voters have been urged to reject "bribe giving and vote buying selfish politicians”, who tend to hold them to ransom, Mr John Ameka, Deputy General Secretary of the Democratic Freedom Party said at a rally at Akatsi on Tuesday.
He said such "power hungry politicians" by their style, were bent on taking Ghanaians for granted.
Mr Ameka said the Party would bring a new democratic dispensation in which opposing views would be tolerated, "DFP will not be an island in decision making but involve all in critical issues," he said.
He said the levels of development being touted by the government were not real, because they did not reflect in the availability of jobs.
The Party's Flagbearer, Mr Emmanuel Asante-Antwi, who was introduced at the rally, said the myriad of social problems affecting the country including "deep-rooted poverty", which compelled parents to sell their children, meant that the country has become static.
He said agriculture, which employed more than 70 percent of the country's workforce would be revolutionized under a DFP government to create employment for the people.
Mr Asante-Antwi said revenue, which will accrue from the country's crude oil would be invested in other sectors to expand and strengthen the economy.
The Life Patron of the Party, Dr Obed Asamoah, said a DFP government would undertake "real economic development" including the re-introduction of agriculture subsidies to make that sector attractive and lucrative.
He said the policy of giving out "hand-outs" as a poverty reduction strategy was not the critical means of addressing the problem.
