Six people have been confirmed dead and seven others injured in an accident involving a Hyundai mini bus and a Burkinabe articulated truck at Odumasi close to Konongo on the Kumasi-Accra road.
Eyewitnesses say driver of the Hyundai mini bus with registration number AS 5900-14 was overtaking another vehicle on the three-lane-hill and ended up crashing into the side of the Burkinabe truck with registration number 11 JJ 8856 BF.
The driver of the articulated truck Ushman is currently on admission at the Konongo Government Hospital, but the Hyundai driver died on the spot, Luv News’ Erastus Asare Donkor reported
Konongo Divisional MTTU Police Commander, DSP Edward Osei told Luv News’ five people died on the spot and one later at the hospital. They were four males and two females. The injured were seven: five males and two females.
He said two of the injured who are in critical condition have been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. One has been referred to the Agogo Hospital and the remaining four were still on admission at the Konongo Government Hospital.
DSP Edward Osei attributed the frequent accidents on that stretch of the road to over speeding and wrong overtaking.
