The internal wrangling in the New Patriotic Party has taken a new twist with a reported clash between security guards appointed by the old executives and those appointed by the new.
The clash was said to have taken place at the party's National Head quarters in Accra, Monday.
Joy News reporter Beatrice Adu says about 40 armed personnel from the Police Service are stationed at the headquarters to maintain peace, law and order.
According to her, the new guards had come to take over duties at the party's National Headquarters but the old guards resisted, insisting they had no information about the new arrangement.
This resulted in a scuffle prompting the police to intervene.
The Nima police led by Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Nuhu Dzango has begun investigations into the matter.
No arrests have yet been made.
The scuffle is the latest of a seeming trend of controversies that have rocked the party ever since the Paul Afoko administration came to power.
Last month, Director of Finance and Administration of the Party, Opare Hammond, vowed not to leave office despite a directive from the party leadership to do so.
He accused the party chair Paul Afoko, and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong of over stepping their boundaries.
He argued that only the National Executive Committee (NEC) had the power to remove him.
"No concrete reason has been assigned to me by them (Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong) why they called me into the office...to just tell me that they have come to the end of the road with me," said Mr Hammond.
It is not clear yet how the party resolved the controversy with its Director of Finance.
The Party executives are yet to comment on the recent scuffle.
