Professor Cletus Dordenno, a consultant to the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), on Thursday said the Ghanaian manufacturing sector remained unprotected compared to those of other countries. Professor Dordenno said the production levels of Ghanaian industries kept dwindling as a result of import liberalization that had made the country a dumping ground for cheap foreign goods. He said this at the 12th AGI members and business executives' luncheon in Accra where he presented findings of a business environment survey conducted in July. He called on the AGI to advocate for more business friendly policies to make Ghanaian industries more competitive in the business environment. Mrs Agatha Nketsiah, Head of Budget Implementation Support Team of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, urged the private sector to take interest in the implementation of budget statements to enable them enjoy the incentives that it (budget) offered. Mrs Agatha said the government has committed itself to implementing policies such as granting tax incentives to companies with a view to improving the business environment.
