Some traders at the Agormanya Market in the Lower Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region are highly dissatisfied with the quality of services provided by some rural banks in the area.
They accuse the banks of lacking proper customer care practices, a situation that is discouraging them from patronizing their services.
They also complain of ‘difficult loan re-payment terms’.
Some of these traders say although saving at any of the Rural banks in the area would be ideal considering the accruing benefits, they are bothered by arbitrary increases in interest rates among other issues.
They said what is worse is that the increases are imposed post-loans, throwing the traders’ projection out of gear and endangering their respective businesses.
Another concern is the unfriendly attitude of some bank officials towards customers, which they say discourages them from patronizing their services. Officials of Upper Manya Rural Bank, one of the banks accused of the unproductive practices, in a response admitted some of the accusations.
They said some of these concerns were mere misconceptions which would be addressed though education and assured that the bank was taking the education of staff and clients as well as the general public seriously, particularly on loan acquisition and services.
