The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has been advised to take the prophecy on his assassination seriously.
A Kumasi based Prophet, Rev. Boakye Ansah, has predicted that the flag-bearer would be assassinated six days prior to the December 7 general elections.
The man of God claimed three people have been contracted for the dastardly act.
Rev. Fred Deegbe, General Secretary of the Christian Councils, told Joy News such prophecy should not be swept under the carpet.
“Prophecies about people dying are particularly of concern to us; you know God reveals to redeem. So those who are discerning when you hear such things it is their business to pray and not take things for granted. You can either dismiss it or take it serious.”
He however appealed to the public to treat with contempt purported prophecies that predicted the outcome of the elections as those ones made mockery of the church.
“We can affirm that God still works today but some of these things almost subject the Church to ridicule because if God even told you something, what did he want you to do about it, to pray, to fast or to publicize it? Do we serve a confused God to say this will win this will not win; two different parties, two different people will win.”
He acknowledged the existence of prophecies but noted that it is difficult to ascertain the credibility of those prophecies.
Rev. Deegbe is therefore asking the media not to give those self-style prophets the platform to misinform the public because “some of these things are pure rubbish”.
Earlier in the day, the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) interrogated Rev. Boakye Ansah of the Pentecostal Hope Ministry at Pankrono, a suburb of Kumasi.
He told Joy News, Oheming Tawiah, “They (BNI) were trying to find out whether it was a spoken word from God and I testified before them that it was a spoken word from God, because I am able to identify the voice of a man and the voice of God as a lecturer of a Bible college.
He said in the presence of the BNI, he was emphatic that the voice was that of God and denied that he made the prophecy public to make him popular.
Rev. Ansah said the frequent clashes between the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress are as some of the signs signifying the assassination.
