A non-governmental organization (NGO), has urged the electorate to vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, on December 7 to enable him to continue the good works of President John Agyekum Kufuorr.
The Campaign for Effective Leadership (CEL), said the presidential candidate has good leadership qualities to enable him to lead the country towards political and socio-economic development.
Ms. Frances Essiam, National Convener of CEL, made the call at the launch of the NGO, under the theme “Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for President in 2008”, in Kumasi at the weekend.
She said Nana Akufo-Addo has good policies on agriculture and industry that could help the country achieve socio-economic development.
Ms. Essiam said the School Feeding Programme and Capitation Grant introduced by the NPP would be continued as well as ensuring free education at the second cycle level to help promote education in the country.
She gave the assurance that NPP government would continue to provide hospitals, clinics, schools and other infrastructure to enhance the living conditions of Ghanaians.
Ms. Essiam said the NPP presidential candidate would ensure the creation of more jobs for the youth to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development
She said Nana Akufo-Addo was a purposeful, confident, visionary and oriented leader who could move Ghana forward.
Madam Flanklina Asamoah, National Women’s Organiser of CEL, expressed concern about the creation of violence and conflicts by some political parties and their followers, especially during campaigns.
She called on political party supporters to use decent language in their campaigns to ensure peaceful polls.
Nana Sarfo Adams Jnr, Ashanti Regional Organiser of the NGO, advised NPP youth to educate the people about the good works and policies of the party to win more votes for NPP in Election 2008.
Mr. Mathias Golo, a Kumasi-based legal practitioner, said the NPP was a mass party and appealed to Ghanaians to vote massively party on 7 December to enable it to continue with its good works.
