Registered users of Tigo Ghana’s Mobile Financial Service, Tigo Cash, can now purchase airtime for other networks for their friends and family in real time.
The electronic top-up service forms part of several innovations by Tigo to provide ease and convenience for customers.
It is in response to market analysis which indicates that increasingly, Tigo Cash customers and users do several transactions across networks particularly, money transfer and buying Tigo airtime for others.
By dialing *100# customers can follow the on-screen instructions after which they will be notified of a successful transaction.
The Head of Commercial and Mobile Financial Service at Tigo Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh, is excited about the new innovation.
“In line with our commitment to offer a ‘Digital Lifestyle’, we have introduced this Electronic Top up service to reduce the hassle of our customers looking for scratch cards for friends and family on other networks.
It is convenient, time-saving and instant and this means that irrespective of the location, time or weather conditions, registered Tigo Cash customers can top up the accounts of their friends and families on other networks with ease,” he said.
He added that the service is part of initiatives towards developing a “cash-lite” economy.
“The Bank of Ghana has developed a strategy to promote this and part of that its getting consumers into the culture of transacting electronically and so this is a step to perpetuate that goal,” he concluded.
