In what appears to be the latest in a pack of electioneering campaign strategies by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), President Kufuor now appears on the same platform with Nana Akufo-Addo in most of the flag-bearer’s tours around the country.
Officials of the party say the NPP is wasting no time in their bid to marshal more votes for a win in the December polls.
Joy News’ Benard Naasara Saibu reporting from Oda said the President’s presence had been given particular prominence in most of the NPP’s rallies around the country.
“Over the last few regional rallies that have been held, namely, in the Western Region, in the Ashanti Region and in the Brong Ahafo Region, the President has appeared in almost all the rally platforms. And so the expectation is that in today’s rally in Oda he’ll appear as well,” he said.
The President is reported to have on most of these platforms told supporters of the party that “he is leaving a legacy which is shared by Nana Akufo-Addo.”
President Kufuor has at most of the rallies also told supporters of the NPP that “every success story of the Kufuor administration has received enormous contribution from Nana Akufo-Addo” and that if they would want to see more of these feat, Nana Addo is the right choice.
This trend, Saibu reports, could be the latest trend of campaigning by the NPP to possibly get the popularity of the President to bolster support for Nana Addo.
The Akufo-Addo campaign team is scheduled to pitch camp at Oda and later in Koforidua where the flag-bearer is billed to address a huge rally.
Meanwhile, the CPP’s presidential candidate Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom is heading for the Western Region after a whistle stop in the Central Region to address mini-rallies.
The CPP flag-bearer will be addressing separate rallies in Tarkwa, Prestea-Huni-Valley, Mpoho-Wassa East and Ahanta West.
Joy News’ correspondent Cyrus De-Graft Johnson who has been travelling with the flag-bearer said Dr Nduom’s Western Regional visit aims at re-emphasising the CPP’s number 6 position on the ballot paper.
